The brief
Cafe Marmalade is an independent coffee shop in the heart of Banbridge — known for its fresh food, homemade bakes, and the kind of atmosphere that brings people back. They needed a website that felt as warm and welcoming as the cafe itself, and that worked for real people on their phones.
The brief was straightforward: a clean, fast, mobile-first site that tells visitors who they are, what they serve, and where to find them — without unnecessary complexity.
The build
I built the site from scratch in React, keeping the stack simple and the performance sharp. Images are served through Cloudinary, which keeps load times low while making it easy to update photography without a developer in the loop. The site is optimised for mobile — most local hospitality traffic comes from phones, often from someone deciding where to go right now.
The design reflects the cafe’s personality: warm tones, clear typography, and an approachable layout that doesn’t get in the way of the information people actually need — the menu, the location, and the opening hours.
Analytics
Analytics are handled through Plausible — a lightweight, privacy-friendly alternative to GA4 that requires no cookie banner and gives the client a clear picture of how many people are visiting and where they’re coming from, without the overhead of a full analytics setup.
The result
A fast, friendly website that reflects what Cafe Marmalade actually is — and gives them a professional presence online that works as hard as they do. You can see it live at cafemarmaladebanbridge.com.
